Extra Credit Options

Note: Please complete any missing work before doing extra credit.

Option 1: Watch a movie from another country (5 Euros)

To get credit:
  • Write the title of the film
  • Write a paragraph summarizing the film
  • Write down 5 cultural differences or similarities you saw in the film
  • You can also do a TV show from another country. Watch at least two hours, then complete the same information posted above.

Option 2: Try food from another culture (5 Euros, 7 Euros if you look up a recipe and cook it yourself)

To get credit:
  • You have to try something you haven't had before. Tacos won't work.
  • You can look up a recipe and cook or go to a restaurant (or have someone else cook for you, I guess)
  • Write what you ate and three things you learned about the food and/or the culture it came from.

Option 3: Interview someone from another culture (or who has spent a significant amount of time in another culture) (5 Euros)

To get credit:
  • Plan out your questions. Have at least 10.
  • Conduct the interview
  • Write down your questions and summarize the person's answers. Turn this in.

Option 4: Learn about current events in another culture (3 Euros)

To get credit:
  • Read/watch at least 4 separate news stories about the same culture
  • Write the title of each one down
  • Write three things you learned (three things total, not three things for each story)

Option 5: Celebrate a holiday from another culture (7 Euros)

To get credit:
  • Learn about the holiday--who celebrates it, how, what traditions there are, what food is eaten, etc.
  • Throw a party! Celebrate the holiday like someone from the other culture would. Be sure to include family and/or friends.
  • Write down what you did and who you did it with

Option 6: Read a book about another culture--non-fiction or a novel that takes place in another culture (12 Euros)

To get credit:
  • Choose a book that's at least 100 pages long
  • Read the whole thing
  • Write down the title of the book and a paragraph summarizing what happened and what you learned

Other options:
  • If you think of something else you'd like to do that would help you learn about another culture, write me a note explaining it, and I'll tell you if it will work or not.
  • Note: You won't get credit if it hasn't been approved.
  • You can email me at CGold@rockwellhigh.net
